Winterfest
in Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Starting Nov 2007 - Gatlinburg, TN
Voted a favorite event by several organizations and associations, Gatlinburg’s Winterfest Celebration turns this quaint
mountain resort town into a Winter Wonderland of lights and
activities through Feb. 28.
Winterfest celebration features more than three million lights
and animated displays nearly 40 feet tall, live entertainment
by the Coasters, featuring their greatest, fireworks display,
and Gatlinburg’s 16th Annual Chili Cook-Off.
Chili Cook-Off - Things kick off on River
Road in front of Ripley’s Aquarium on Nov. 2 from
4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Dozens of chili vendors offer up their
specialties, which
will appeal to chili lovers from all over the state. For
a $7 entry fee, each chili lover receives a spoon, a voting
ballot and all the chili they can eat.
Chili vendors judge the chili in several
categories including taste, booth presentation, apron design,
and most unique
name. Gatlinburg’s Chili Cook-Off is taken seriously
so don’t expect any courtesies when it comes to exchanging
recipes with these mountain folks. You’ll have to guess
at the ingredients.
Winterfest - This year’s Winterfest will also feature
Cajohn’s Fiery Foods. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Cajohns
has been featured on the Food Network and has won many deserved
awards. Cajohn’s has a super hot line of more than
150 spices, sauces, salsa and mixes.
View everything by car or hop on the trolley
ride and take a leisurely ride through the town. Trolleys
regularly leave
the Gatlinburg Welcome Center at Traffic Light #5 at
6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. until the New Year, plus
Saturdays
in January. The cost is $4, and more information
